The Grand Canyon Institute announced that it will release on April 17 an independent policy analysis of the Arizona Coyotes Arena and Music Venue, a key economic driver for the proposed Tempe Entertainment District.

As the May election approaches, more and more members of the community are expressing their positions on the Tempe Recreation District, which will be approved through Propositions 301, 302 and 303.

The Grand Canyon Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is a centrist think tank led by a bipartisan group of former state legislators, economists, community leaders and academicians, according to a press release.

Its development analysis believes that:

  • How arenas will challenge the effective use of the Trail Center and Gila River arenas in Phoenix and Glendale, respectively,
  • The economic impact of arenas and music venues and the cost-effectiveness of the subsidies promised by the City of Tempe,
  • How the proposed Tempe entertainment district with arena compares to possible alternative uses of the land.

The analysis will be available on GCI’s online site on Monday, April 17 at 6:00 a.m. CST research library
