Champaign, Illinois — In 2022, Grange Grove, Illinois’ premier pregame tailgating location, will open again with plans to offer a full range of entertainment for the season. Grange Grove offers free public tailgating, live music, a kids zone, Busey Bank Illini Sports Network pregame radio and the best Illini gear and apparel in the Gameday Spirit store. Grange Grove opens at 7am each game day, with pre-game entertainment starting three hours before kickoff.
This year’s live music entertainment programme is scheduled as follows:
- August 27 – Wyoming – Clayton Shay (Nashville, Tennessee) Garrett Biggs grew up in the cornfields of central Illinois and played classic rock and country music.
- September 10 – Virginia – Boat Drinker (Champaign, IL) in their 21stone Throughout the year, Boat Drunks is known for its Jimmy Buffett-inspired, full-bodied tropical rock performances.
- September 22nd – Chattanooga – Panda Land (Akron, Ohio) Funk, Reggae Rock – From Prince and Jimi Hendrix to Bob Marley and Scientist, let’s not forget Frank Zappa, each band member contributes differently to the sound of Land of Panda.
- October 8 – Iowa – Matt Ferranti (Nashville, TN) – Ferranti’s brings a country-infused Detroit R&B-inspired mix of sultry lyrics, clever hooks, and personal stories.
- October 15 — Minnesota — 90’s Daughter (Champaign, IL) Central Illinois’ top party band sings hits from the ’80s, ’90s and today.
- Nov. 5 – Michigan State University – Page Mackenzie (Charleston, SC) – From Fox’s hit reality show X-Factor, Mackenzie’s vocal prowess is ingrained in her home country.
- November 12 – Purdue – Dirty Janes (Danville, IL) This Dirty Janes Bringing you classic rock with its own upbeat funky twist.they cover music You like from the 60’s to the 90’s.
Children’s area: In addition to live music entertainment, Grange Grove features a weekly Kids Zone with inflatable games, face painting, balloon artists and an interactive science experience from Gameday Genomics Carl R. Woese Institute for Genome Biology.
Pre-match broadcast: fans can listen Busey Bank Illini Sports Network The Illinois football pregame radio show was live from Grange Grove with Brian Barnhart, Steve Kelly and Martin O’Donnell previewing the day’s game and interviewing expert guests. The official network pre-game show begins an hour before kick-off with the WDWS local show hosted by Scott Beatty. The radio show action airs two hours before kickoff.
Grange Grove trails: Grange Grove Will be open from 5pm to 7pm the night before each game to allow fans to set up any tailgate items in advance. The tailgate will be able to park and drop their belongings on the north side of the lot (Lot 36). Vehicles are not permitted to enter Grange Grove at any time. Students will be directed to the North section and the public will be directed to the South section.
Space will be limited to approximately 15’x15′ leaving room for everyone. Personal trail tents and awnings must be 10’x10′ or smaller. No tailgating on sidewalks or sidewalks, and no electricity is provided. Security personnel will monitor the area overnight; however, any items set up in the batch are at the owner’s risk.
