The sixth edition of the Gulf and Indian Ocean Hotel Investor Summit will be held at Anantara Oriental Mangroves Hotel in Abu Dhabi on 27-28 February.
GIOHIS is organized by HOFTEL, run by owners for owners, but also for companies that provide services for owners, including hotel management companies and brands, consultants, brokers, architects, law firms, project managers, etc.
The event has so far lined up 90 speakers, nearly half of them from the hospitality real estate industry, and more than 50 investor, developer and owner-operator companies will be in attendance.
GIOHIS will be an international event with participants from Australia, Bahrain, Cyprus, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mauritius, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, UAE, UK and USA.
Minor Hotel, a Platinum Sponsor of the Summit, will host a cocktail reception and dinner on the first night. Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotel Group and CEO of Minor International Group, Minor’s parent company, is one of many industry CEOs who will speak at the two-day event.
Patron sponsor Aldar Hotels and Hospitality will be represented by CIO Jahed Rahman and CEO Klaus Assmann. Other CEOs in attendance will include those from Fattal & Leonardo Hotels, Abu Dhabi National Hotels, RAK Hospitality Holding, GHM and CityBlue Hotels.
With luxury hotels booming in the region over the past 12 months, the CEO of Minor Hotel Group will discuss a key question on the lips of many investors: Has luxury hotels peaked, or will their strength continue? Amir Golbarg, Senior Vice President of Operations, Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa, will also be present to lead a roundtable discussion on Qatar’s hospitality sector, one of a series of country-focused sessions.
Minor Hotels is confident in the growth and development of the hospitality industry in the Middle East and wider Indian Ocean region and is proud to be the main sponsor of this year’s GIOHIS. The group has a strong portfolio of upcoming hotels in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, with openings under the Anantara, Avani, Tivoli and NH Collection brands, and more to be announced soon.
Rajakarier commented: “We are delighted to be a Platinum Sponsor of GIOHIS 2023 and to host the event at Anantara Oriental Mangroves Abu Dhabi. Apart from owners, developers and other partners, HOFTEL also confirmed the A stellar line-up of senior leaders within hospitality companies. We look forward to being at the center of discussions and debates about the current challenges and opportunities facing our industry.”
Simon Allison, Chairman and CEO of HOFTEL, noted: “2022 will be a very strong year for the Gulf and Indian Ocean region. 2023 looks promising, but also a year of uncertainty. Faced with high inflation, debt scarcity and rising interest rates, as well as labor cost and supply cost pressures, and realize that ESG capex is also going downhill. With the pressure increasing, can landlords survive without big brands? If not, What is the best arrangement to work with them? We will cover all of this at GIOHIS and beyond.” – trade arab news agency
