On Monday, contestants will come together in pairs for a unique “Doubles Challenge”, just like in the “Doubles Race” in Abu Dhabi. Their first stop will be the adventurous Yas Waterworld, where they will be tasked with preparing and bringing Arabic street food to the judges for the day. Assam’s Nayanjyoti Saikia and Haryana’s Gurkirat Singh will wow the chefs with their stunning ‘Qatayef with Cinnamon Tea’. Qatayef is a dessert that cooks will be amazed at how well it goes with cinnamon tea, as desserts are usually not paired with sweet drinks.
Chef Ranveer Brar will be impressed by Gurkirat’s poise and how quickly he adapts to Middle Eastern cuisine. He said, “I was amazed by the idea of Gurkirat’s dish, which had two sweeteners on the plate at the same time – a dessert and tea. Showing us Gurkirat’s dish was a better decision than Nayanjyoti because His chicken was charred. Qatayef and cinnamon tea blend harmoniously. The tea is light and the spice of cinnamon balances the sweetness of Qatayef.”
Talking about his dish, Gurkirat said: “I’ve never tried Arabic food, but I managed to make this dish because it seemed intimate, yet unique to the culture. It was my first Once in Abu Dhabi, I really like to thank the makers of MasterChef India for giving us this opportunity.”
When all the home cooks are ready to win over the judges, there will be two home cooks “causing trouble in a pair-adise”. Who will they be?
