Haas to train Pietro Fittipaldi at GPs in Mexico and Abu Dhabi RaceFans

haas reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi Will drive for the team in the first practice sessions at the Mexican and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Under new rules for 2022, every Formula 1 team will have to use drivers with fewer than three Grand Prix races in at least two practice sessions this year. Fittipaldi qualifies as he has only raced in Formula 1 twice before, and at the end of the 2020 season he is a substitute for the injured Romain Grosjean Haas at the Sakhir and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The American-Brazilian has been driving Haas’ Ferrari-powered VF-22 for pre-season testing in Bahrain.However, Haas chose Kevin Magnussen Nikita Mazepin was knocked out of the opening test in Spain when the team needed to change drivers.

“Very excited to announce that I will be doing FP1 in Mexico and Abu Dhabi,” Fittipaldi said. “I would like to thank the Haas F1 team for the great opportunity.

“I drove this car in Bahrain at the beginning of the year. But another chance to drive the VF-22 would be quite amazing. It’s a very fast car and I look forward to driving it in Mexico and Abu Dhabi.”

Fittipaldi will take over MagnussenThe car is in Mexico City and then in Abu Dhabi, where Mick Schumacher will attend a session driven by Fittipaldi.

In addition to working with Haas, Fittipaldi has raced in IndyCar, Super Formula, DTM and later the European Le Mans Series.

With four grands prix remaining in the 22-event season, several teams have yet to deliver on their promises to provide seating time for inexperienced drivers on race weekends.Some teams run ineligible drivers, such as Robert Kubica Alfa Romeo and Antonio Giovinazzi at Haas.
