Haim Saban, Sherry Lansing and Other Leaders Call on Ticketmaster to Support Farrakhan Campaign

[ad_1]

The leading ticketing platform in sports and entertainment doesn’t appear to have a problem with Louis Farrakahn’s long history of anti-Semitism, according to a letter sent to Ticketmaster this week by entertainment industry heavyweights.

The Creative Community for Peace, a leading entertainment industry trade organization that promotes tolerance through the arts, has written to Ticketmaster CEO Michael Rapinoe expressing its support for Ticketmaster’s sale of Louis Farrakhan’s upcoming Savior’s Day at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena on February 26 Great attention to event tickets.

The letter, signed by entertainment executives Haim Saban, Sherry Lansing, singer/songwriter Diane Warren and more than 120 other entertainment industry leaders, highlights a series of anti-Semitic and phobic statements by Louis Farrakhan at past Savior Day events. Same speech. It urged the company to reconsider selling event tickets and adopt the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism, a guideline to help identify and combat anti-Semitic hatred, such as the one Farrakhan has often championed.

“Mr. Farrakhan calls Judaism a “gutter religion”; states Jewish religious writings are responsible for “pedophilia, homosexuality, and sex trafficking” in America; frequently praises Hitler, calling him “a very great man”; letter said in. “[Farrakhan] referring to Jews as insects; and falsely and shamelessly claiming that Jews orchestrated and dominated the African slave trade. “

Mr Farrakhan repeatedly invoked “Satan” when referring to the Jews. In his 2017 Savior’s Day speech, he said: “Those who call themselves ‘Jews’ are not really Jews, but are actually Satan. You should learn to call them by their real name: ‘Satan’. You are Come face to face with satan, the great liar, the enemy of God, and the enemy of justice.” In 2020, he preached violence with a statement, “”Those of you who call yourself Jewish, I will not even give you honor. You are not Jewish. You are so called. You are Satan. My job now is to unmask Satan. So when every Muslim sees Satan, pick up a stone. “

The letter also included other inflammatory remarks Mr Farrakhan had cited over the years, highlighting his pattern of sharing anti-Semitic tropes and conspiracy theories with his audience. It also states that more hate crimes per capita are committed against Jews than any other minority group and that “providing any form of support for such hate is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous.”

CCFP Director Ari Ingel added: “As the ADL and the Southern Poverty Law Center have pointed out, Louis Farrakhan is one of the leading purveyors of anti-Semitism in the United States. His views are dangerous and we are disappointed that Ticketmaster allowed him to spread Hate. We hope Mr. Rapinoe reconsiders, especially as anti-Semitism continues to become increasingly normalized.”

At the time of writing, Ticketmaster CEO Michael Rapinoe has not responded to CCFP’s request
