UAE authorities have announced registration dates for those wishing to perform the Hajj this year. Those who want to perform the Hajj can register between 13 February and 10 March.
The UAE’s General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Giving (Awqaf) said potential pilgrims must register on its digital platform. Those who intend to undertake the holy journey must click on the “Pilgrimage Registration” tab. They then have to enter their Emirates ID and mobile number.
“The number of pilgrims will return to pre-pandemic levels without any age limit,” Rabia, minister of pilgrimage and umrah, told reporters in Riyadh.
The Hajj is the pillar of Islam, and all able-bodied and financially capable Muslims must perform the Hajj at least once. The pilgrimage will take place this June.
More than 2.5 million people made the pilgrimage in 2019, with the numbers drastically reduced in the following three years as a Covid safety measure. Last year, nearly one million Muslims performed these ceremonies.
