The Crown Prince attended today a ceremony organized by the Watani Al Emarat Foundation during the Dubai Expo 2020 to pay tribute to approximately 600 volunteers on the occasion of the “International Volunteer Day”. The crown prince praised the volunteers’ efforts and called on members of the Dubai community to contribute to the promotion of social well-being, well-being and development.
During the event, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed announced the launch of “Dubai Parliament Day”, which aims to support the “Dubai Day” initiative he launched in 2017 to promote the social responsibility of Dubai citizens and strengthen values and Spiritual volunteer service. The initiative encourages every resident to share their gift of time and set aside at least one day in the year to use their talents and skills in a voluntary manner to help those in need, improve and maintain their cities and communities, and protect the environment.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Expo 2020, and Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi, member of the Federal National Assembly and Director-General of the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, also attended the event. Reem Al Hashimy stated that the “Dubai Parliament Day” initiative will help to deeply embed a culture of volunteerism in the country and society. She praised the social role played by volunteers and emphasized their contribution to the successful hosting of the 2020 World Expo.
Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi also welcomed this initiative, saying that it will have a positive impact on UAE society. He reiterated that the support of the Federal National Committee is in line with the strategic vision of the country and its leaders.
The “Dubai Day” initiative was launched in 2017 to mobilize volunteers to support initiatives inspired by the “Zayed Year” and “Giving Year” and to consolidate Dubai’s status as the most donated city in the world.
