Hamdan Bin Zayed awarded 20 scholarships at Abu Dhabi University

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler of the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi University (ADU), awarded 20 scholarships to top high school students in recognition of their outstanding academic performance. Scholarship recipients will be enrolled at Abu Dhabi University at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year to join any of 50 unique programs, majors and specializations, including Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity Engineering ; Computer Engineering – Specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering – Specialization in Robotics and Automation, and MSc in Information Technology and MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering. ADU’s programs are designed to equip students with the necessary skills to prepare them for the most sought-after jobs of the 21st century and to excel in their future careers.

The ‘HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed’ Scholarship, offered since 2009, is a prestigious national initiative dedicated to empowering outstanding students and motivating them to pursue their educational goals. The scholarship is a key pillar of ADU’s academic excellence strategy and reflects its commitment to supporting the development of the UAE’s academic ecosystem. Scholarships are covered for a maximum period of four years, or after graduation, whichever is earlier. Scholarships cover tuition, application, registration and student services fees, and medical services fees. Eligible students may apply through ADU’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Dr. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, President and Founder of Abu Dhabi University, highlighted the importance of similar initiatives generously provided by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Dr Al Dhahehri said: “Scholarships play a vital role in encouraging outstanding students to continue their pursuit of excellence and begin their higher education journeys. Furthermore, these initiatives create a healthy and A competitive environment. Top achievers who meet the criteria will be able to attend ADU, a world-class academic institution, and choose from a wide range of developmental fields including engineering sciences, management, environment, information technology, languages, law, media, health sciences and more.”

Dr. Al Dhaheri added: “These programmes are designed to provide the labour market with professional cadres aligned with the requirements of the Abu Dhabi Government’s overarching policy agenda and its 2030 Economic Vision to meet the expectations of our wise leadership for the next 50 years. ADU The strategy to grow the academic ecosystem begins with monitoring the needs of the Abu Dhabi job market and forecasting the future of the workforce. ADU is focused on developing our graduate cadre with the skills to move towards a knowledge-based economy. We are committed to equipping students with the skills , enabling them to contribute effectively to our society and to the direction of our wise leadership.”

Professor Waqar Ahmad, President of Abu Dhabi University (ADU), encourages students to maintain successful academic achievement throughout the four years of the scholarship. Professor Ahmed noted that, with the exception of the winter and summer semesters, students must commit to maintaining a minimum CGPA of 3.70 and at least 12 credits per semester in order to continue to receive this prestigious scholarship.

Recently, ADU launched four new specializations, including Big Data Analytics, Web and Mobile Application Development under the Bachelor of Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity and Game Development under the Bachelor of IT. ADU is accredited with the highest honor from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In addition, ADU is ranked among the top 651-700 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2023, with a 5 QS Stars rating in 2022. Additionally, ADU is recognized as one of the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years of age.
