Dubai: The Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Outstanding Academic Performance announced on Tuesday the launch of the “Discover Talented Students” program.
Targeting students in grades 4 to 12 in public and private schools in the UAE, the program aims to identify and support talented students using a set of advanced standardized science tools called ‘Hamdan Talent Rubric’.
Students are nominated to the program through two mechanisms: self-nomination, where students or their guardians complete their information on the program’s website, or collective nominations coordinated with schools and institutions.
Dr Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Outstanding Academic Performance, said: “As part of the consolidation of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Outstanding Academic Performance In recognition of our role in supporting a culture of talent and innovation, we are pleased to launch a program called ‘Discover Talented Students’ at the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Genius and Creativity. The new program uses “Hamdan Talent Rubric”, the first scientific tool in the country to discover talented students.
“The program grew out of the foundation’s vision and ongoing effort to take a leadership role in identifying talented students, developing them, and engaging them in projects appropriate to their scientific abilities and skills. Through the program, by identifying the types of talent To identify and support talented students by providing appropriate educational services to meet their needs and levels.”
“This is achieved by applying an up-to-date set of criteria to identify candidates’ talents and skills and prepare them for acceptance into the Centre’s programme. This is in line with our wise leadership’s vision of supporting exceptional students, developing talent, developing their innovation in various fields, and prepare them to take on future responsibilities to enhance the status of the nation and contribute to supporting the UAE’s position as a hub of creativity, innovation, science and technology.”

Dr Al Suwaidi added: “The program aims to identify the maximum number of talented students in a wide range of fields to ensure an appropriate match between the abilities of talented students and the quality of courses that are suitable for them. In addition, the program also intends to spread awareness among community members about the latest methods and practices in discovering talented students.”
Utilize a comprehensive and integrated system to detect talented students, starting from the nomination process, all the way through to placing them in the appropriate program based on their ability. The assessment methodology used for the measurement is scientific and in line with modern standards, relying on measuring a range of cognitive skills and special abilities of gifted students. If a student passes the assessment, he/she will be able to participate in a variety of gifted and gifted programs including technology, science, mathematics, engineering, etc. according to the conditions and standards applicable at the center.
Dr. Al Suwaidi said, “Hamdan Talent Rubric” represents one of the best and most advanced Arabic assessment tools recognized globally. It was developed by a professional scientific team from internationally renowned universities in Germany and Saudi Arabia based on the latest scientific theories and global best practices in the talent field.
