Hamilton reveals struggles of returning to Abu Dhabi: I didn’t feel so good

[ad_1]

Lewis Hamilton has revealed he will struggle to return to Abu Dhabi for the 2022 season finale after a controversial 2021 campaign.

The Briton infamously lost his potential eighth world title at last year’s Grand Prix when Max Verstappen overtook him on the final lap following a controversial safety car ruling. Let the Dutch get the title.

Hamilton disappeared from public view in the weeks following the campaign, leading to speculation over whether he would return to the 2022 campaign.

The seven-time world champion didn’t resurface via a social media post until February, and was soon back on the court as the new season kicked off.

However, 2022 proved to be a challenging year for Mercedes, with Hamilton’s final race in Abu Dhabi coming without a win.

Hamilton reveals how he feels after Abu Dhabi return

during an interview channel 4 On the weekend of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton was asked if he felt anxious about returning to the Yas Marina circuit a year after the 2021 event.

“It doesn’t feel good to walk in here,” he explained.

“I don’t know. I can’t say I necessarily want to be here.”

To break that mindset, Hamilton has decided to focus on the positive, which he has been trying to maintain throughout 2022.

“Honestly, since I got back to my room, I’ve been prepping,” said the Silver Arrows driver.

“Over the past week, I’ve generally been very focused — most of the year, anyway — [on] just want to make sure [I remember something] I think it’s so, so important to everyone.

“We’re caught up in all these different things that we’re going through, and [we’re] Forget just to live in gratitude. That’s something you really need to remember because so many people are going through tough times, really, really bad times.

“So many people are struggling. It could be worse and it’s just [important to] Always remember life and be grateful for a new day, new opportunities to be better, new opportunities to challenge yourself and shape your future.

“That’s what I’m focusing on right now, so, again, [with] Whatever negativity I have, I try to put it aside and move on. “

Hamilton didn’t expect ‘amazing’ support after Abu Dhabi

Hamilton admitted he was surprised by the amount of support he received after the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which he credits with getting him through Mercedes’ woes in 2022.

The 37-year-old said: “I definitely didn’t expect what was going to happen after that because of the amazing support from the fans of the sport, especially mine.”

“And then there’s the general love that I’ve experienced this year, and I think that’s what got me through the year, if I’m being really honest, with the challenge of getting back into the game, wanting to fight back, but couldn’t Do fight back with the car we have, even if you might only finish sixth [or] Fight for fifth or whatever.

“We’ve had an amazing year of support, more people than ever before. I think we’ve felt more love and affection from people as a team than ever before, and I think it’s really beautiful.

“I know some people in life have a hard time accepting love, and I’ve definitely been one for a long time, so this year is [where] I was able to open up a bit more and absorb it, and it was really a beautiful experience.

“I’m really, really grateful.”
