Harry and Meghan expose deeper corruption in British society

[ad_1]

In season 5, episode 8 Netflix show The Crown, Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki) was nervous, and walked into the palace to meet the Queen (played by Imelda Staunton). She was here to tell her mother-in-law that she had given a “bold and candid” interview to the BBC. In her view, it’s a dignified way of getting the royals ready for what’s to come. The Queen asked sharply, “Why?”

Diana explained that she felt the need to set things straight and make a note about her marriage and how unhappy she was in it. ’ The Queen was annoyed and asked, ‘It’s like a broken record. Haven’t we heard this before? a thousand times. “

I felt the same way while watching the new Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan. As a fan of The Crown, Harry and Meghan’s full interview didn’t surprise me. Of course, royals can do all this and more. Because this is not a matter of principle, but a matter of survival.

The documentary claims in uncertain ways that senior members of the royal family feel insecure and threatened by Meghan’s talent, panache and growing popularity. Some of the similarities between Diana and Meghan, and their experiences with the royal family, are too good to be mere coincidence. However, the royal family seems to have a habit of never learning from past mistakes. When do they study? That must be the question on the minds of those familiar with most, if not all, of the scandals the royal family has been involved in.

The royals are charged with being the image of perfection in all that is sacred to those who cannot forget the fact that Britain is no longer the greatest empire in the world. The process is brutal for family members, who were born into an era marked by free will and self-expression, yet have a responsibility to uphold belief systems conceived during the Elizabethan era.

Meghan is also a victim of such high hopes. When she married into the royal family, it was expected that she would bring about change and completely change the royal system from the inside out. When you think about it, Meghan is the princess who sailed across the ocean to rescue her prince and take him on “Freedom Flight”.

However, there is another angle that I think gets less attention than what the royals do with Harry and Meghan. That’s what the tabloid media did to the couple. Shockingly, neither the royals nor the media have changed since Diana. Therefore, the number of British population is very large.

If anything, the British media’s blatantly aggressive coverage of the royal family has only grown bolder. The media seems to have moved beyond the point of not seeing family members as human beings anymore. To the media, the royals are mere objects of fascination, relics of the country’s past, worthy not of sympathy but of exploitation for pleasure. According to Prince Harry, apart from the palaces and luxuries that come with being a descendant of a certain bloodline, being a royal is almost inhumane.

The Crown shows us the royal family’s struggle to remain relevant in modern Britain. Harry and Meghan Documentary Shows Us The British Monarchy Is Crucial To The Survival Of The British Tabloid Media
