Speaking of the initiative, Sheikh Mohammed stated that it will cover four key strategic pillars: well-being, tourism, sports and activities, and sustainability.
Sheikh Mohammed explained that the project will be implemented as part of the initial five-year development plan.
The ruler of Dubai designated a project called Hatta Beach, which aims to transform the area into a year-round tourist destination. According to the Emirates News Agency, the project will create investment space and facilities and activities for tourists in the coastal area, which will help increase the flow of tourists to Hatta.
Sheikh Mohammed approved the supreme committee to oversee the development plan and implementation. According to Dubai’s Sustainable Development Goals, the committee will formulate plans to protect the Hatta environment, mountain ecosystems and cultural heritage.
In addition, Sheikh Mohammed also outlined the development of sustainable hotels that will provide a variety of services to the community and support tourism and sports activities.
A mountainside health resort will also be built to give guests the opportunity to engage in sports and activities suitable for the Badal terrain.
There will also be some motels managed by local residents in the area, where guests can enjoy the natural mountain views of the area.
In January of this year, it was also announced Hatta will soon be home to cable cars and waterfall attractionsThe cable car or ropeway system will be the first of its kind in the region and will make it easy for visitors to reach the dam. There will even be a staircase plan of modern architectural design to strengthen the access to the dam, with several rest points along the way. The project is expected to attract one million riders each year.
There are plans to build bicycle and scooter tracks in a 120-kilometer network connecting all major attractions and residential areas. It also includes the construction of the longest mountain bike trail in the UAE for hosting international competitions and events.
A plan for a sustainable transportation system will also be developed, including a direct bus service from Dubai to Hatta, where passengers can bring bicycles and scooters. Tourist buses will also provide passengers to the historical sites.
