At least 100 people were missing on Monday and a search and rescue operation was underway, reports said.

Flash floods washed away dozens of homes in three affected areas in Parwan. Surrounded by mountains, the province more often witnesses flooding from heavy rains.

More rain is expected in most of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces in the coming days, the local meteorological department said. Heavy rains and flash floods across the country killed 40 people on the 19th of July and the previous month.
