DUBAI – The process of applying for a 5-year tourist visa for families has been streamlined and streamlined, according to new guidelines issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
Previously, each family member had to apply separately to obtain documents, which was a lengthy process; however, the ICP website now offers an option for families to apply as a group without worry.
The emirate’s travel agency confirmed that applicants can now go through the new process, and families no longer need to send applications and supporting documents individually if they visit as a group, the Khaleej Times reported.
Issued to families with children under the age of 18, the visa allows the beneficiary to stay in the UAE for up to 90 consecutive days and is valid for five years.
To apply for a visa, families must submit the following:
- color photo
- photocopy of passport
- valid medical insurance
- A valid air ticket to depart the UAE
- Bank statements for the previous six months with a bank balance of US$4,000 (approximately equivalent to Dh14,700) or equivalent in foreign currency
- Proof of residence, which can be a hotel or residential address

According to the ICP website, the visa fee is Dh750 in addition to the security deposit of Dh3,025.
Dubai is rolling out sweeping reforms to attract tourists from around the world and streamline the process of obtaining visas with digital enhancements and improved support. Last year, the country welcomed millions of people to the UAE for several events, the biggest of which was the Dubai Expo.
