Hezbollah accuses the Lebanese army of killing its supporters | Hezbollah News

Nasrallah accused the Lebanese Christian forces of shooting at its members after several deaths in the clashes last week.

Beirut, Lebanon- The leader of Hezbollah accused the Lebanese Forces Party of shooting at its supporters and killing seven people in a protest against the judge investigating the Beirut port bombing last Thursday.

Said Hassan Nasrullah said in a televised speech on Monday that the Christian Party and its leader Samir Gia are trying to cause conflict in the country.

“The real plan of the Lebanese Forces is a civil war,” Nasrallah said.

“They don’t have the problem of causing bloodshed… even if it will lead to a large-scale military confrontation in a civil war.”

Nasrallah said that Hezbollah’s armed forces have 100,000 “armed, well-trained and experienced” fighters.

Last Thursday, during a protest at the Palace of Justice in Beirut, unidentified gunmen opened fire on hundreds of Hezbollah and Amal supporters, resulting in Hours of conflict At least 7 combatants and civilians were killed, and more than 30 others were injured.

The leader of the Lebanese Army, Samir Geagea, a long-time opponent of an Iran-backed party, has repeatedly denied allegations of organizing attacks.

Nasrallah denied allegations that armed members of Hezbollah and his ally Amal participated in protests before the conflict.

“We did not carry weapons or take any security measures to let security agencies handle it because it is located in a sensitive area,” he said.

The protesters demanded that Judge Tarek Bitar be removed from the Beirut port bombing investigation and accused him of prejudice and political motives.

So far, the Lebanese army has arrested 20 people during the investigation of the conflict and received a video showing a soldier shooting and killing an unarmed protester.

On August 4, 2020, hundreds of tons of highly explosive ammonium nitrate fertilizer stored in Beirut Port for many years was ignited, causing more than 200 deaths and approximately 6,500 injuries. The explosion destroyed several blocks in the Lebanese capital. No official has been convicted yet.

Judge Bitar has charged and pursued senior political and security officials. He accused former Prime Minister Hassan Diab and former ministers Ali Hassan Khalil, Gazi Zet, Nuhad Mahnuk and Yusuf Finanos of criminal negligence.

Nasrallah insisted that Bitar should focus on judicial officials who allowed ships carrying explosive ammonium nitrate to dock at Beirut Port, and again accused him of being unfair.

The Hezbollah leader said: “There are embassies, reference materials, and politics.”
