this hifi festivalhosted by Filipinos advance creative education (FACE) teamed up with other HiFi organizations to take over the historic Filipino town of Los Angeles on a Saturday for the second year in a row.
Held at RideBack Ranch, the event raised donations for toys to be shipped back to less fortunate families in the Philippines, while spreading holiday cheer to Los Angeles locals through live music, free meals and holiday photos.

“This is one of our favorite annual community engagement programs, and we serve those less fortunate during the holiday season,” said FACE Executive Director Lyle Del Mundo, “Connecting with talent and inspiring, that’s what they’re celebrating this season reason. “
Celebrations include a series of celebrity meet-and-greets and greetings with special guests Simu LiuPatrick Starr, Alex Wasabi, Paris Bellec, Vincent Rodriguez III, Jon Jon Briones, josh de la cruz, Theo Briones, Eugene Lamb, Jason Rogel, Roshon Fegan and Ella Jay Basco. Other highlights of the event include a Christmas market, free haircuts for children and an abundance of caroling.

Longtime Set Artist Michael Denering to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award from Art Directors Association
Set artist Michael Denering will receive the Art Directors Association (ADG) Lifetime Achievement Award from the Set, Title and Graphic Artists (STG) at the 27th annual ADG Awards.
In “Toys”, “Die Hard”, “Jurassic Park”, “Django Unchained” and in 2004 “A Series of Unfortunate Events at Lemony Snicket” and the first and second “Iron Man” The landscapes painted by Denering can be seen in both. Denering’s work has also appeared in hit series such as “Grace & Frankie,” “Glee,” “American Horror Story,” and “Three’s Company.”
During his 42-year career, Denering worked at Warner Bros. and Fox Studios. He then served as co-chair of the ADG Fine Arts Committee, retiring in 2020. His paintings can still be seen at Los Angeles entertainment venues such as the Ahmanson Theatre, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Mark Taper Forum.
“Michael Denering is what his colleagues call a ‘dynamic’ set artist,” said STG Board Chair Clint Schultz. “From his start painting landscapes at CBS Television City to his many years at Warner Bros. Studios, Mike’s career as a filmmaker has seen his murals and backdrops appear in over 100 films.
Denering is the first of four Lifetime Achievement Award recipients announced by ADG. The remaining three honorees will represent the other committees that make up the guild—art directors; illustrators and matte artists; and set designers and model makers.
The ADG Awards will be held on Saturday, February 18 at the InterContinental in Downtown Los Angeles
Film Commission panel elects new executive director
Jaclyn Philpott has been named the new Executive Director of the International Film Commissioners Association, an industry body representing more than 300 film commissions worldwide.
Originally from New Zealand, Philpott has spent the past few years working in marketing for Tataki Auckland Unlimited, the city’s cultural and economic development agency.
She will take over the leadership position vacated following the departure of Eve Honthaner earlier this year. AFCI hosts two annual conferences where state and national film commissioners come together to discuss how best to attract producers to their territories.
“I am honored to be elected as the new executive director of AFCI and delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with our members around the world to build on the achievements of those who have gone before,” Philpott said in a statement. “The screen industry is at a historic juncture. Inflection point, I see significant opportunity for growth and partnership.”
Philpott will move to Los Angeles, where AFCI is headquartered.
