Hollywood actress and UAE resident Lindsay Lohan announces she is married in birthday post

Lohan and Shamas reportedly dated for more than two years before getting engaged in November. The “Weird Friday” star announced her engagement to Shamas when the actress told PEOPLE she wanted a low-key destination wedding.

Lohan moved to Dubai in 2014 after a tumultuous few years in Hollywood, which saw her serve multiple times in rehab and was often chased by paparazzi who recorded her every move. In April, Lohan spoke at length about finding her peace in the UAE in an interview with Vogue as part of the publication’s “Life in Life” video series.

“It really happened, how I moved to Dubai. I got there and I felt some kind of peace. I think it’s because the paparazzi are illegal there. I really found out that I have a private life and I can do it for Make time for yourself,” the “Mean Girls” star said at the time. “I decided to stay there because I really learned to appreciate what it’s like to go, do my job, and then leave and live a normal life. I moved there to really appreciate the time I took for myself, and Not just go, go, go and learn to say no. Really put myself first and choose wisely what I want to do, first for myself.”

The “Just My Luck” star has also signed a deal with Netflix for two films, one of which will be released later this year.
