Did the all-you-can-drink package make Rixos more popular than its Saadiyat Island neighbors?
Oh, and a weekend on the sunny shores of Saadiyat Island. This Abu Dhabi island is widely considered to have not only the best beaches in the UAE, but one of the best in the world, thanks to the perfect sugary sand and crystal clear waters. A cluster of five-star resorts has clustered on its fringes, each eager to make the most of its prime beachfront location.
These include Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island, which promises an array of activities and restaurants far superior to the standard cheesy and fried food buffets that most all-inclusive resorts attract. But how does it really measure? We checked in to see for ourselves.
that location
Easily accessible to residents of both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island sits in the middle of a string of five-star resorts on the island. On its left, a Rotana resort, and on its right, you’ll find the Park Hyatt. The island is slowly transforming into some sort of cultural beacon, just a short drive from the Louvre Abu Dhabi (and a slew of new museums still in operation).
look and feel
The influence of the brand’s Turkish roots is immediately reflected in the design details, with Arabic design influences incorporated to create a sense of opulence throughout the hotel. Ottoman aesthetics are everywhere: from terracotta roofs to stained glass, sunken seating in courtyards and royal blues everywhere from crystal chandeliers to marble mosaic floors.
Room
Entry-level luxury rooms are bright and colourful, with king-size beds and spacious baths, but may lack some of the high-spec features that modern five-star hotels may offer, such as Bluetooth speakers. All rooms have balconies with garden or sea views, but book a Superior Room (one and two bedroom options are available) for the added benefit of direct access to the semi-private swimming pool. One caveat: The pool runs along a row of rooms, so don’t expect too much privacy if your next-door neighbor is also taking a dip.
If you’re a larger group looking for more independence, it makes sense to book a villa: either one of the three-bedroom residences with a pool, or a magnificent beachfront four-bedroom mini mansion, each with a living room and private swimming pool in manicured grounds.
Facilities and Activities
At Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island, there is something for everyone and it feels like every inch of the expansive venue is dedicated to providing something extra for guests. At the pool and beach, guests can spend a lazy day under the umbrellas, or work up a sweat with a morning paddle boarding lesson or an afternoon water aerobics class. The price includes the Amara Spa, Saadiyat’s largest spa, with its signature Arabian grandeur resting on ornate arches, intricate mosaics and marble relaxation areas throughout. Inside, there are 10 treatment rooms, a hidden outdoor pool, and a men’s and women’s spa area with a sauna, jacuzzi and traditional hammam. Body treatments, facials and massages are available for a fee and it is recommended that you book in advance when the spa is busy.

Dining is available in nearly a dozen restaurants and bars, so it’s a sizable upgrade from the traditional all-day buffets you’d typically find at all-inclusive resorts. Even Turquoise’s all-day dining gets a proper boost, with an extensive breakfast offering a selection of freshly baked pastries, bespoke omelets, crepes and pancakes, as well as continental meats, cheeses and loads of European, Asian and Middle Eastern options A favorite for breakfast. Poolside, People’s is a colorful place to enjoy delightful dishes like burgers, hot dogs, and pizza on a hot day. A more refined dinner can be enjoyed at Mermaid, a seaside Mediterranean restaurant. Here, there is a lot of focus on Greek-influenced seafood, with appetizers of tzatziki, sea bass ceviche and chilled octopus shared, followed by à la carte dishes like BBQ shrimp, grilled salmon and seafood linguine .
At L’Olivo, you can enjoy a menu of classic Italian pizzas and pastas, while accommodation at Rixos Premium can’t offer drinks at Orient’s rooftop bar (pictured), with its gorgeous decor and fun live music for after dinner good place to go. At each restaurant and bar, a curated list of signature cocktails is the ideal accompaniment to a well-executed menu and ensures that no cocktail connoisseur is left unsatisfied.
price of house
To enjoy these glittering Saadiyat coasts at affordable prices, book as soon as possible. Throughout August, rates for UAE residents start from AED 1,600 per room per night. This includes full access to the resort’s extensive entertainment programme, swimming pool and beach facilities, as well as all your food and beverages. Anjana Spa also offers 20% off in-room dining and 25% off treatments. Minimum stay of two nights, valid until August 31st.
judgment: For an all-inclusive stay that goes above and beyond, it’s hard to beat.
