How Abu Dhabi residents can access all medical data with new Malafi service

The service, called Malaffi, was launched by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) during the ongoing Gitex Global 2022.

In an exclusive interview with Gulf News, Dr Hamed Al Hashemi, DoH Chairman Advisor and Head of Digital Health, explained how the system will help caregivers and residents achieve better outcomes.

“Malafi is basically a health information exchange program, so it enables doctors and providers to exchange patient medical data and medical records. Nearly 99% of Abu Dhabi’s medical facilities, including hospitals, clinics and pharmacies, are already in the connected within the scheme,” said Dr Al Hashemi.

He added that the program is the first in the world to allow the exchange of medical images, allowing doctors and healthcare providers to access details such as MRIs in addition to medical reports [Magnetic Resonance Imaging] Scan or X-ray results.

Malafi’s “Health Portal” is a service that Abu Dhabi residents need to use if they wish to access their medical records. The service is available through healthportal.malaffi.ae and an application in the Apple App Store, “Malaffi Health Portal”. It will also be available on the Google Play Store.

“Patients can access their own medical records, lab reports and medical data through one app and one portal across all facilities. So no matter which medical facility they visit, patients can use their own medical records,” said Dr. Al Hashemi .

In order to access the service, you need to perform the following steps:

1. Visit healthportal.malaffi.ae or download the “Malaffi Health Portal” app on the Apple App Store. It is expected to be available on the Google Play Store soon.
2. Use your login Emirates Pass or your Emirates ID number.
3. The system will then direct you to your personal health dashboard where you will be able to view details related to your medical history.
