How are we approaching artificial intelligence?

[ad_1]

LOS ANGELES – Artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence that replicates human intelligence, has entered our everyday lives — whether we like it or not — and is changing our world, but how we use the technology will be up to humans.

Will it be used ethically?

In the movie Trick Girls, a team of agents discovers and uses a new computer program to lure and trap cyber predators. Once they work with the program’s developers, they soon discover that AI is rapidly outpacing its original purpose, and they must confront ethical and technical dilemmas.

Franklin Richie, who starred in and directed “Trick Girl,” said he hopes the film will spark delicate conversations about artificial intelligence. He told Spectrum News that over the years, he has read a lot about how artificial intelligence and technology are being used to catch criminals and hunt down cyber predators.

For this film, he took two ideas, a digital CGI avatar of a child and a computerized chat box, and put them together—creating a CGI girl run by AI.

For Tatum Matthews, who plays an AI program named Cherry, it takes a lot of trust to tackle such a heavy topic as an online predator at a young age.

“I’ve known Franklin since I was nine years old. I have a lot of trust in my family and him. I knew it was going to turn out well and they all made me feel as comfortable as possible about it all,” she said.

The film is divided into three chapters. The first one begins in the interrogation room, where Cherry is introduced.

“Some of the things I want to talk about are going to happen in the next few years. What’s the best way to approach that? Well, let’s have three real-time scenes that take place in different time periods, and each scene can be a cornerstone of the story. ,” Ritch said.

A lot has changed since Ritch made “The Artifice Girl,” and artificial intelligence has advanced.

Rich said the film doesn’t have to challenge people’s minds, but he hopes people can discuss how to approach artificial intelligence.

“As humans, we’re very good at oppression. The pessimist in me thinks that if AI can develop sentience, of course there’s going to be a discussion and an argument where people will say, ‘No, they’re not human, they don’t deserve rights. “I want to challenge that because at some point, sooner rather than later, we need to ask these questions,” he said.

Matthews told Spectrum News that she finds AI fascinating.

“I’ve used the Lens app, ChatGPT. It’s all cool and recent. There’s a lot of explanation about it. I don’t know where I stand or where I fall, but I just feel really good about where I am now and where I can go in the future.” It’s pretty cool,” she said.

Matthews said she listened to Siri and Alexa study them in preparation for her role as Cherry, but for her role, she focused on her voice, facial expressions and body movements, which are subtle but still believable.

David Girard, who also stars in the film and plays Amos, said that through conversations and research, his opinion has changed and he believes that we need to protect the rights of artificial intelligence because “if we Not starting now, we’re going to get into some really murky waters on this line.”

“I want people to leave with an open mind. This story is really about trauma that can be passed from creator to creator,” Girard said.

Sinda Nichols, who also played Deena in “Trick Girl,” said she hoped the film would make people think more deeply about the values of empathy, compassion, open-mindedness capabilities, and think more broadly about who has the right to say what or what their autonomy actually is.

Nichols has worked with Richie before, but this is the first film the duo will be working on together.

“It’s been very exciting and challenging. Only seven months into COVID. It’s been weird working with people who are normally so close, gregarious and sensitive – all that’s gone. We have to relate to each other differently ,”she says.

Girard, who has also worked with Rich in theater and film, said Rich was a visionary who was ahead of his time when he filmed “Trick Girl” three years ago when artificial intelligence It hasn’t been the talk of the town like it is now.

If you see the movie and have a question, it makes you want to talk to him, and reach out, Rich said.

“I’ve been sitting on this movie for three years and can’t talk to anyone about it, and I’d love to talk about it. I’d love to hear what people think,” he said.

“The Artifice Girl” is now in theaters, VOD and digital.
