How Gen Z and Alpha will shape business T&E processes

[ad_1]

Gen Z will become the largest workforce demographic by 2030, with Gen Alpha starting their careers designed to help travel managers plan the future of travel and expense (T&E) operations, says SAP Concur in a new report. horizontal setting.

The white paper titled “Preparing for Gen Z and Alpha: How Younger Generations Will Change Business Travel and Expense Management” shows that T&E best practices will be influenced by the technology preferences, communication styles and sustainability expectations of Gen Z and Alpha Influence.

Based on leading research on the characteristics and expectations of these groups, Gabriele Indrieri, Vice President and Managing Director of SAP Concur EMEA South, outlines three major changes likely to occur in organizations in the coming years:

1. Technology is a necessity: Gen Z and Alphas have grown up in a digital environment, which is shaping their technology preferences and expectations. With this in mind, companies need to stay ahead in the fast-paced, ever-evolving digital world to ensure employee retention while maintaining productivity and profitability.

With lightning-fast internet, smartphones and mobile apps becoming the norm today, this could impact employee communication preferences now and in the future. This is reflected in research commissioned by LivePerson, which revealed that 65% of Gen Z respondents prefer to communicate digitally rather than face-to-face. Additionally, a survey by the IBM Institute for Business Value found that 75 percent of Gen Zers prefer mobile devices as their device of choice. As a result, each generation and its preferred mode of communication has resulted in shorter, more frequent and more direct contact between employees.

2. Personalization is king in the digital world: Technology can impact Gen Z expectations of personalization, including how their companies and leaders approach development opportunities and career paths. According to Deloitte, employers need to understand the behavior and tendencies of a generation, and they want to be treated more personally by employers.

3. Sustainability takes center stage: Sustainability is a top priority for younger generations, with research published by Deloitte showing that 77% of Gen Z respondents believe it is important that their company’s values align with their own. As a result, the private sector is under increasing pressure from Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alphas to drive sustainability efforts.

This complements the results of the 2022 SAP Concur Global Business Travel Survey, which reported that nearly 100 percent of Gen Z respondents said they plan to take steps to reduce the environmental impact of business travel in the next 12 months.

As a result, businesses are setting realistic and targeted goals, taking measurable actions, and driving quantifiable results to minimize their environmental impact. Doing good for the planet is also good for business, and this trend is likely to continue to gain greater emphasis as younger generations enter the workforce.

“Companies need to adopt the latest technology and develop measurable sustainability goals to attract and retain talent. Therefore, T&E leaders should start discussions with their business operating partners, office management and other company leadership to There is a consensus on the current situation and how T&E operations may need to change going forward,” concludes Indrieri. – trade arab news agency
