How Syrian refugees helped clean up flooded German towns | Flood News

[ad_1]

The German Syrian Volunteer Organization stated that hundreds of its volunteers have rushed to the worst-hit areas in western Germany.

Syrian refugee volunteers were part of the cleanup of German towns that were destroyed by floods last month, which killed at least 180 people.

The German Syrian Volunteer Organization stated that after seeing the damage on social media, hundreds of volunteers rushed to the worst-hit areas in western Germany.

The team collected debris and renovated buildings, such as a century-old church.

“There are 1 million Syrians in Germany, and we are all with the Germans for better or worse,” said Barakat Oubaid, organizer of the volunteer group.

Most of the volunteers arrived in Germany in 2015, fleeing war and poverty, when the country accepted more than 1 million refugees and immigrants.

“Many houses of the Germans were destroyed, and our apartments were also destroyed,” said Mouaiad Abedelbi, a Syrian volunteer living in Arweiler.

“We feel the same as our neighbors. We have experienced that feeling, and now we have to feel it again. But in the final analysis, we are here to help, and we work hand in hand with the Germans to fix everything. Anyway, we It’s all here.”
