Hallyu super label SM Entertainment has released details of its annual New Year’s Eve concert extravaganza: 2023 SMTown Live: SMCU Palace@Kwangya. The free streaming concert begins on December 31 at 8:00 PM PT or 11:00 PM EST (1:00 PM KST on January 1, 2023) and will be broadcast on SM Entertainment’s social media platforms. The “Family Events” campaign has confirmed performances from nearly every artist on the label’s roster, including aespa, NCT 127, NCT Dream, GOT the beat, veteran TVXQ! , BoA, KangTa, etc.
picture last year’s activities, the show will take viewers into the world of Kwangya, a fictional metaverse concocted by founder Lee Soo Man and home to many of the label’s entertainers. Last year’s concert was themed at the “Train Station” in Heguangya, and this year’s concert was held in the luxurious “Palace” of the universe. SM Entertainment’s soloist and leader will kick off the event with a special performance of “The Cure,” the title track from the label’s latest winter compilation, SMTOWN WINTER 2022: SMCU Palace.
Before the show, SM Entertainment founder and chief producer Lee Soo-man will host the company’s first SM Sustainability Forum, discussing “Climate change issues facing modern society and the role of K-pop and Hallyu in the world’s sustainable development,” a The press release said.
