“As the NBA continues to expand globally, we look forward to visiting Abu Dhabi and advancing the league’s goal of inspiring people through basketball. This October, we will proudly represent our city, our state and Bucks fans around the world. “
The Bucks played a game in Paris in 2019-20, so they’re no strangers to playing overseas. As Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to rise to new levels within the association, so does his global profile.
Giannis is already one of the league’s most popular players around the world, and that will only continue to grow as he fully develops into the best player in the league. Believe it or not, Giannis is now one of the league’s spokesmen. Sending the Bucks overseas makes sense as the league tries to push the Bucks’ popularity to the moon.
Playing in Abu Dhabi is just the next step in the league’s grand plan to expand its global profile. You have to imagine that more NBA games will be played overseas in the next few years.
