Chinese tech giant Huawei unveiled a new lineup of its flagships on Thursday, including the high-end P60 Pro and the world’s thinnest foldable phone with a large screen, the Mate X3.
In addition, it expanded its line of tablets and laptops with the launch of the MatePad Pro, as well as the MateBook X Pro and MateBook D 14.
The P60 Pro will be available in two premium finishes – Rococo Pearl and Black, starting at Dh3,999 – and pre-orders in the UAE already include gifts worth Dh1,530.
Meanwhile, the Mate X3 will be available in green vegan leather and black feather sand glass for AED 7,299, with pre-orders starting on May 10 with freebies worth AED 2,430. All new flagship devices can be purchased from Huawei’s e-store, Huawei Experience Store and selected retailers in the UAE.
The P60 Pro phone also boasts highly durable Kunlun Glass, designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use, and undergoes a high-temperature nanocrystal growth process to make it ten times more resistant to drops. Kunlun Glass is also equipped with world-class waterproof technology to ensure the service life of the equipment.
Huawei says the Mate X3 is the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone, measuring just 11.08mm thick when folded and 5.3mm when unfolded. It weighs only 239 grams and features strong aluminum and ultra-light carbon fiber.
The Mate X3 is equipped with a super-viewing XMage camera, equipped with a 50MP super-viewing main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto camera, and supports 5x optical zoom.
“Although our road ahead is still full of challenges, our investment in innovation will not change, nor will our determination to continue to develop the Middle East and African markets. Huawei will not give up overseas markets, and we will continue to be committed to high-end global brand building ,” said Pablo Ning, president of Huawei Consumer BG Middle East and Africa.
Ning pointed out at the media briefing that the Middle East and Africa region has the highest attention to many products such as Huawei mobile phones.
“In Q1 2023, sales of mobile phones and high-end wearables will increase by 50% compared to 2022, while sales of high-end PCs will increase by 73% in 2022. Despite the challenges of the past three years, we continue to be steadfast in ensuring that we Investing in research and development,” he said, adding that the company invested about $23.8 billion in research and development last year, reflecting its commitment to provide customers with quality products.
As of April 2023, the Chinese tech major operates nearly 100 Huawei experience stores in the MEA region.
Alongside its two main flagship smartphones, Huawei also unveiled the MateBook X Pro laptop, a lightweight yet powerful device.
Weighing only 1.26 kg, it is equipped with Intel’s 13th generation Core processor and a 14.2-inch 3.1K Huawei true-color full screen. Its Smart Meeting feature offers AI Camera and AI Sound for immersive and natural communication during online meetings.
The new HUAWEI MateBook X is priced at AED 7,999.
MateBook D 14 is a stylish, high-performance laptop with a powerful 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1360P processor that handles demanding tasks with ease. It’s more economical at Dh2,899.
The new 11-inch MatePad features a 120 Hz FullView eye-protective display for a smooth viewing experience, responsive touch and low-latency handwriting input, making it an ideal device for entertainment and creativity. The price is Dh1,599.
