Hundreds of UAE pack relief packages for Pakistan

• Volunteers gather in the UAE to pack rescue kits for flood-affected Pakistanis.

Hundreds of volunteers reportedly gathered at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Dubai Expo City and Sharjah Expo Centre to raise donations and pack thousands of emergency kits and food supplies for flood-affected Pakistanis Nationwide.

On Saturday, the national volunteering campaign “We Stand Together” gathered hundreds of Emiratis, including children, to collect Ship to Pakistan.

By the end of the event, volunteers had made 30,000 boxes filled with 1.2 tons of supplies.

Children involved in community activities draw and write uplifting messages that are added to relief boxes to express solidarity with crisis-hit countries and create a sense of hope.

Nearly 1,400 people have died in flood-hit Pakistan and at least 33 million have been displaced.

Last week, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited this country And called on the world to provide “substantial financial support”.

Nearly 500 volunteers gathered at the Expo Centre in Sharjah alone. Relief boxes include food items such as ketchup, oil and rice, as well as basic toiletries such as sanitary pads and soap.

The initiative is led by the Emirates Red Crescent Society, Dubai Cares and Sharjah Charity Society, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Community Development.
