Hungarian filmmaker Beratar gives masterclass at FTII

Veteran Hungarian Film Producer Bellatar A five-day Film Directing Masterclass for final year Diploma students in the Department of Directing and Screenwriting at the Academy of Film and Television, Pune, India. His films, which include Werckmeister Harmonies (2000), The Turin Horse (2011) and the immortal black-and-white version of Satantango (1994), have enjoyed cult followings everywhere.

Extended long takes, choreographed across time and space, give his characters and the world they inhabit a strong sense of “reality,” raising philosophical and poetic questions about life, especially in our day. Master classes will be directed by students from the Department of Directing and Screenwriting, as well as from all other majors.

Tal will also host a session for the student community on the FTII campus, where he will share his unique exploration of the film form and help foster the student community’s film aspirations. Students of Satyajit Ray School of Film and Television, Calcutta Participation in this public meeting will be online.
