Sad day for New Zealand pop culture fans – the iconic E Channel! No longer available in New Zealand.
electronic! The TV channel stopped airing on Sky from midnight on Sunday, January 15, according to a press release shared on the network’s website.
The US channel, which features pop culture content, celebrity reality shows and movies, is owned by NBCUniversal. The studio has decided to discontinue E! New Zealand’s continued distribution.
Several “fan favorites” E! Shows will instead be available on Sky’s on-demand streaming service, but it’s unclear which of those will still be available.
electronic! It’s usually shown on red carpets and at global award shows, such as last week’s Golden Globes. However, the Globe cannot be viewed in New Zealand.
It came out a few years after E! News is canceled for 2020. The entertainment news show was canceled along with “Morning Pop” and “In the Room,” Variety reported at the time.
NBC Universal made changes to streamline its programming, and a source said the impact of Covid-19 played a role in the decision to cancel the show.
However, in October 2022 it was announced that E! News would return as a late-night entertainment news show, returning to the network after a two-year hiatus.

There were several big names at the helm of E! News, including the six-year tenures of Ryan Seacrest (2006-2012) and Giuliana Rancic hosting the show from 2002-2015. Returned in 2018 and left again in 2019.
The celebrity news show, which first aired in 1991, went off the air in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
