Australia has begun installing identity technology leader Idemia’s biometric self-service kiosk solution called Gen3 Kiosk at eight international airports to provide a completely seamless passenger journey.
End-to-end border control solution comprising self-service kiosks and eGates deployed at Darwin, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Coolangatta, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney airports with 109 installations of Gen3 self-service The kiosk marks the completion of the first phase in late 2021.
The second phase of the contract involves the delivery of eGates with advanced biometric features and capabilities: travelers complete an initial 1:1 verification with passports at the Gen3 Kiosk, matching them when they appear at the eGate.
With this solution, there is no need for tokens as the traveler’s face is used as proof of their identity, ensuring a smooth and stress-free travel experience.
