Omar Farooq’s social experiment video received more than 500 million views on YouTube
A Bahraini social media star learned that undercover is the most effective way to raise awareness of humanitarian issues.
Influencer and filmmaker Omar Farooq filmed social experiments in prison. He pretended to be a person with special needs and went on a pilgrimage to Mecca. He worked as an undercover agent for customs officials in Bahrain. After the devastating port explosion in 2020, he was even on the ground in Beirut.
Speaking at the International Government Exchange Forum (IGCF) in Sharjah on Sunday, Farooq said that he was shooting these “undercover” videos in the most unexpected environment to educate the audience and the public.
Farooq’s videos on YouTube have received more than 500 million views. He emphasized that his efforts have enabled millions of users on social media to understand the wider realities of the world and its challenges.
