India Today Web Desk: West Indies bowling all-rounder Sunil Narine has been named captain of Abu Dhabi Knights in the ILT20 league.
The 34-year-old said the leadership role was a “new challenge” for him as he had to think about the functioning of the entire team.
“I am very happy to be captain of the Abu Dhabi Knights Knights. It is a new challenge because now I have to think about the functioning of our entire team and not just focus on my game or my four rotations,” Nathan said. Lin said in a statement.
“It’s something I’m really looking forward to. I grew up on the Knight Riders and the Knight Riders grew on me, so it’s like a family. Where they have a team, I love being part of it. I’ve played with the Emirates. A lot of cricket, so I know what’s going on there very well.
“If you look at the ADKR lineup, it’s a familiar setup, not a brand new XI that I have to get used to. So it gives me a lot of confidence knowing the quality of my players. There are a lot of senior players in the team as well , whom I can call for ideas and information. It will be interesting, it’s been a long journey with the Knight Knight family, and I hope it’s a never-ending journey,” he added.
The ILT20 league will start on January 13 next year in the UAE. The competition will feature six teams participating in the inaugural event.
Narin, who has been linked with Kolkata Knight Riders, made 148 appearances for the team in the Indian Premier League between 2012 and 2022. He has taken 152 wickets with a best figure of 5/19.
