Washington, DC – Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), its professional sports teams, foundation and employee resource groups honor and support all members of the LBGTQ+ community. The organization, which includes Washington Mystics, Washington Wizards, Capital City Go-Go, Wizards District Gaming, Washington Capitals, Caps Gaming, and Unity, an LGBTQ+-focused, employee-led collective, is constantly engaged in numerous events to help empower all Be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioner, intersex or asexual in ongoing ally relationships.

Capital One Arena presents Pride x MSE graphic takeover on all exterior boards and banners on Monday 5 June. Throughout the month, MSE will rotate pride images on an external video board, which can be viewed by the thousands who pass by the venue each day.

The contest will feature a mini Progressive Pride banner from Giant for all fans, portraits from the Pride photo booth in the plaza, new Mystics Pride merchandise at the Fanatics Team Store, and spotlights from Mystics Partners in Pride, corporate partners demonstrating commitment to Workplace policies, practices and benefits for LGBTQ+ employees.this human rights movement (HRC) will be highlighted throughout the evening with a table in the plaza and a halftime ceremony honoring HRC President Kelley Robinson as a legacy game changer. Before she receives a personalized Mystics Nike Rebel Edition jersey, fans will watch a video introduction featuring Kelly and her work promoting equality in the LGBTQ+ community. Mystics and the MSE Foundation will also present Human Rights Campaign Foundation $10,000 Donation Check, MSE Foundation and Giant will also be giving a $10,000 check to Smile (Support and mentor youth advocates and leaders).
During the Washington Wizards’ Pride Night game on March 28, the team hosted a pregame human rights event panel, where local leaders gathered to discuss LGBTQ+ equality in the workplace and the role of the LGBTQ+ community in sports importance. Following the panel discussion, attendees enjoyed a reception where they received co-branded gifts from Wizards of the Coast and Giants. During the game, the Wizards made SMYAL the beneficiary of a 50/50 raffle for the MSE Foundation. The LGBTQ+ youth empowerment nonprofit also received a $5,000 donation from Giant and a $5,400 gift card for free groceries for a year.
The Washington Capitals hosted Pride Night for the seventh consecutive year on January 17. This year’s Pride Night presented by Giant focuses on LGBTQ+ community members, messages and topics. Capitals social accounts feature rainbow avatars and fans are encouraged to post on social media using the hashtag #CapsPrideNight. Additionally, during the 2023 season, the Capitals and MSEF Pride auction featured autographed player-used bats wrapped in iridescent “Pride Tape” and raised over $40,000, including a $5,000 donation from Giant for SMYAL.In addition, MSEF and Capitals with unrivaled athlete A $5,000 donation will help provide ice hockey opportunities for LGBTQ+ youth and allies. Unmatched Athlete is a Maryland-based nonprofit organization that encourages youth who identify as LGBTQ+ and allies to get involved in sports and fitness. To date, Capitals Pride auctions have raised over $167,800 for organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
The Unity Employee Resource Group at MSE has been working to foster an environment that engages, empowers and optimizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual employees and allies Diversity and individuality.Some high-impact initiatives over the past year include an LGBTQ+ Inclusive Lunch and Learn event in partnership with the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, offering colleagues an introduction to inclusive language and concepts; group outings Shangela at the Warner Theatre; a clothing campaign bringing the DC Center for the LGBT community, George Mason University LGBTQ+ Centerand bigger circle; and host screenings and discussions change the gamea film about transgender high school athletes as they compete at the top of their field while challenging boundaries and notions of fairness and discrimination.
