Inaugural Abu Dhabi Bike Festival to be held this November

The cycle begins…

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nayan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, the inaugural Abu Dhabi Cycling Festival will take place on November 7 Held from 13th to 13th this year.

This pedal speed section has two main features.after receiving 2021 UCI Bike City DesignationAbu Dhabi will now host the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, which will run from 9-13 November.

In other incredibly exciting news, we’ll experience the inaugural Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo, a 150km race that hits the road on November 12 and earns up to AED2 million for amateur events bonus.

BMX Freestyle Flatland and Park will also host BMX Freestyle events.

The festival will attract more than 300 of the world’s best cyclists and further cement Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for sporting excellence.

In addition to these grandstand shifts, Nation Towers will also have an “activity village” offering family-friendly entertainment, short bike lessons, face painting, bungee trampolines, graffiti artists, street dancers, BMX stunts and live music.

The latest leg of the Bicycle Abu Dhabi initiative

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed last November, Bike Abu Dhabi aims to steer Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become the world’s cycling hub.

Officials confirmed plans to build a massive 109km Abu Dhabi Ring Road – a “separated cycle path connecting major destinations around the city”.

Upcoming further construction concepts include the construction of a 3,500-capacity race track on Hudayriyat Island, which is already great for cycling (water bike paths, outdoor BMX track, multiple island tour routes).

Once completed, the Velodrome Hudayriyat is expected to bring more benefits to the nation’s sports facilities.
