Authorities said that on Friday, two assailants wearing black coats of lawyers opened fire in a court in the Indian capital, killing a notorious suspect and then being shot and killed by police.
The shooting occurred when Jitendra Gogi, who was facing charges of murder and racketeering, entered the courtroom.
New Delhi Police Chief Rakesh Asthana said that the police officers who escorted Gogi acted quickly and killed the attackers believed to be from rival gangs. It is unclear how they managed to introduce weapons.

Attorney Satyanarayan Sharma, who appeared in court as part of another case, said that since most proceedings were actually conducted due to coronavirus restrictions, few people were present in court at the time of the shooting.
He criticized the safety lapse and called for a thorough investigation.
He said the attackers were waiting for Gogi’s arrival. Indian media reported that 30-year-old Goji was allegedly involved in a series of murders, extortion, violent robbery and carjacking in New Delhi and its surrounding areas.
