Abu Dhabi: India leads the Abu Dhabi International Airport destination in terms of traffic volume in the first half (H1) of 2022. Some 1.28 million passengers passed through the hub in the UAE capital as travel demand surged.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), between 1 January and 30 June 2022, the world’s busiest airport for international travel received 6.3 million passengers.
There were approximately 3.6 million passengers in the second quarter (Q2), a nearly five-fold increase from the same period last year.
“Our passenger traffic results for the first half of the year represent another big step forward for Abu Dhabi Airports and the wider industry. While 2021 has been a successful year, the goal for 2022 has always been to building on this momentum by expanding our network with our partner airlines while maintaining the highest levels of service excellence.”
Shareef Al Hashmi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, told WAM.
AUH now connects 101 scheduled passenger destinations served by 23 airlines, compared to 76 destinations served by 19 airlines in the same period in 2021.
