India, UAE and France hold first trilateral ministerial meeting in US

India, the UAE and France held their first trilateral ministerial meeting here on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and discussed a new, more modern approach to diplomacy, focusing on an active exchange of ideas between strategic partners and members of the UN Security Council.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar arrived in New York on Sunday for the 77th high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly, which will kick off with the opening of the general debate on September 20.

Egypt is also the presidency of COP27 and they are important players in the renewable energy sector, especially green hydrogen and ammonia.

During a useful exchange of views with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Jashancar said he looked forward to cooperation in the G77 and other polygons.

India provided a credit line of 100 million euros for Cuban rice purchases. Cuba is also expected to take over the presidency of the G77, a global South group that runs through the UN process.

During a meeting with Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demek Mekonin Hassan, Jashankar appreciated his briefing on the latest developments in the African country.

He said enhanced cooperation in education and trade was discussed.

Jashankar said during a meeting with Albania’s European and Foreign Minister Horta Zhaka: We value our close cooperation in the UN Security Council. Discuss strengthening our bilateral relationship. Views were exchanged on Ukraine and energy security.

Sources said India and Albania had a good experience working together at the UN Security Council and both sides wanted to see if they could build on the Security Council experience to integrate it into their bilateral relations.
