India willing to work with UAE to make it global education hub: Indian diplomat

[ad_1]

An Indian diplomat said India would be happy to be a partner of the UAE in its efforts to make the UAE a global education hub rather than a financial hub.

Indian Embassy Consul (Press Information, Culture and Labour) Tadu Mamoo, who was a key guest at the Global Education Conclave held here, said the pandemic has dramatically unlocked the potential of online learning and attracted students.

She said there was a need to strike a balance between physical learning models and educational technology.

She said the UAE leadership is working hard to make the UAE a global education center rather than a financial center.

“We see that a number of large universities have made Abu Dhabi and the UAE their hubs and we see that it is making progress. India will be happy to be a partner in these arrangements,” Mamou said.

She also said that India and the UAE share an unusually close cultural and political relationship that has been strengthened under the leadership of both countries.

Educators, experts, edtech leaders and students from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and beyond brainstormed on key issues surrounding education, with a special focus on digital technology and its potential in aiding learning.

The two-day conclave, titled ‘School of the Future’, was organized by Kyra Global, a Dubai-based company founded by veteran Indian publisher KPR Nair, in partnership with the American University of the Emirates (AUE), one of Dubai’s leading universities.

Some 250 physical model participants and thousands more virtual participants from around the world attended to brainstorm potential solutions for future school redesign and construction.

The Indian diplomat said: “Our promotion of youth innovation and growth is always a focus and it is an area of great interest to us; anyone with an idea and willingness to collaborate with the Indian Consulate is most welcome .” .

The establishment of an IIT campus in Abu Dhabi, announced last year as part of the trade deal, will boost bilateral cooperation, she said.

In his speech, Nair, Founder and Chairman of Konark Publishers, said his passion for books and the constant search for new and innovative ways to disseminate knowledge led him to establish Kyra Global last year as an organization for the healthy exchange of ideas and knowledge in key areas. Platforms affect human issues across the globe.

Muthanna G Abdul Razzaq, founder and principal of the American University of the Emirates, said the future of schools depends on the effectiveness of teachers, who need to be equipped with the tools to help students learn in various ways. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Indian-American entrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Islam, member of the Council of Presidential Scholars, said that the schools of the future should be multifaceted to maximize the potential of 21st century education. Through virtual engagement, Islam focuses on the role and responsibility of the “entrepreneur” in shaping research, students and society.
