Indian actress Nitu Chandra Srivastava founded her film production company Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC in Abu Dhabi.
The initiative pays homage to Gandhiji, who started his Satyagraha, a form of non-violent resistance in Champaran, while also paying homage to Chandra’s native Indian roots in establishing himself as a successful actor and producer It played an important role.
Chandra comes from a middle-class family with no film background, she worked her way through different Indian film industries to become an actress. Champaran Talkies is Chandra’s way of giving back to the film industry and the people of India. She launched Champaran Talkies in Mumbai, India in 2010 with her writer-director brother Nitin Chandra with a vision to bring quality films to Indian audiences. Together, they want to change the negative image of films in Chandra’s home state of Bihar.
This vision became a reality when Champaran Talkies became the first production company to receive the only national award in the Maithili language of India. Since then, Champaran Talkies has produced several documentaries and fiction films.
Abu Dhabi-based Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC is an extension of Mumbai Productions. The Abu Dhabi studio’s sole goal is to produce international films that appeal to a global audience. To achieve this, Chandra plans to build an all-female team of top-notch technologists who can play an important role in producing high-quality content and paving the way for women in a male-dominated industry.
