Hyderabad: The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has contacted Asra Fatima, a Hyderabad woman trapped in Ajman, UAE. It provided the woman with the contact number of the Ajman Indian Association.
The embassy, which is tracking the progress of the case, also assured the woman’s family.
How is a Hyderabad woman trapped in the UAE?
Asra Fatima, 28, is heading to Dubai in December 2021 after getting a job as a maid. She works with an Arab family in Al Ain, UAE.
However, during her eight months in the Arab family residence, she was denied proper food and accommodation. Due to difficulties, she fell ill.
Unable to endure the hardship, she decided to return to India. However, her employer, who did not want her to leave, snatched her mobile phone and demanded Dh10,000 to hand over her passport.
In desperation, she turned the matter over to a female agent in Dubai, who helped her find the job. Instead of helping her, the job agency allegedly locked her in a room for four days without food.
Fortunately, she managed to escape from there to a friend’s house in Ajman.
How did things get to the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi?
Asra’s aunt Ghousia Begum referred the matter to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, while Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan referred the matter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shortly after learning the details, the Indian embassy took immediate action and began to rescue the Hyderabad women trapped in the UAE.
