Indian film Vikram Veda filmed across Abu Dhabi

During the 28 days of production, the Abu Dhabi Film Commission provided full support, including a 30% cashback.

The Abu Dhabi Film Commission (ADFC) facilitated the filming of the Indian action film Vikram Veda Premiering this week.

Produced by Reliance Entertainment Studios, Ynot Films and supported locally by SxG Films and Filmy FZ LLC, Vikram Veda A remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name, it tells the story of an honest cop named Vikram who sets out to hunt down and kill the notorious gangster Vedha. In a series of events, the Vedas manage to change Vikram’s view of good and evil as black and white, leading to an unlikely collaboration.

The film is now showing in cinemas around the world.

Vikram Veda Produced by Vivek B Agrawal for Reliance Entertainment Studios and directed by Indian filmmaking duo Pushkar – Gayathri, the director of the original brought them both to fame.The film stars Indian actor Hrithik Roshan as villain Vedha and Saif Ali Khan as protagonist Vikram, who returns after filming Abu Dhabi Bounty Aur Babli 2 2020. The cast also includes heroine Radhika Apte.

The Abu Dhabi production spanned 28 days and included action scenes, stunts and drama filmed at multiple locations in Abu Dhabi, including the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve and exterior locations for twofour54, which provided the war-torn city and Arabic themed markets.

The production was heavily supported by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission (ADFC), which provided location scouting services and a 30% cash rebate, and facilitated a cast and crew of nearly 2,800 people.

Speaking of filmmaking, Abu Dhabi Films Commissioner Hans Flekin said: “Over the past decade, Abu Dhabi has been used for over 100 productions from Hollywood, Bollywood, the Arab world and beyond , and the release of Vikram Veda further strengthens our relationship with the Indian film industry. The filming took advantage of the incredible natural landscape of Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi as well as our top-of-the-line exterior scenes, providing A full production experience powered by ADFC. The huge success of the International Indian Film Academy Awards in Abu Dhabi earlier this year really brought attention to the connection between our two film industries and we look forward to hosting more productions, And build stronger partnerships with companies like Reliance.”

Vivek B Agrawal, Producer at Reliance Entertainment Studios added: “It was a pleasure to come to Abu Dhabi to film Vikram Veda and I would like to thank the excellent local crew led by SXG Films and Filmy FZ LLC who supported us in making Such a complex shoot. We used twofour54 locations extensively on the shoot and it was one of the best location facilities I’ve ever worked on. The team includes nearly 2,800 extras, 250 international staff, 120 local staff, 5 freelancers and 3 interns, all of whom contributed to the production process. Several Emirati companies have also provided further support – including local Abu Dhabi producers SxG Films and Filmy, as well as Set Life, Spot On, Atlas Travels and Gamma Engineering.

The film held an exclusive industry screening on September 29 at the Vox Cinemas at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi, where guests and the media got their first glimpse of the film ahead of its release in UAE cinemas.

The film is one of more than 130 productions shot in the UAE, benefiting from Abu Dhabi’s diverse landscape, award-winning facilities, talent pool and 30% cashback.
