Indian Navy ships enter UAE for remote training deployment

The three ships belong to the 1st Training Squadron (1TS) and are deployed in the Persian Gulf as part of a training deployment. The 1st Training Squadron (1TS) is located in Cochin and is part of the Indian Naval Training Command Southern Naval Command.

“The deployment of 1TS is designed to give trainees an understanding of the various evolutions that are familiar to them at sea and in port. The current deployment also provides an opportunity for trainees to understand India’s socio-political, military and maritime ties with friendly nations of our maritime neighbours,” The Federal Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

For visiting UAE naval officers, there was a professional interaction and brief tour of the ship. Cross-training visits and community engagement activities have also been arranged for young officers during their port calls in the UAE.

Sea cadets are also exposed to a variety of sea evolutions, maneuvers and seagoing vessel operations.

Before the UAE, the 1st Training Squadron did a Port in Kuwait On October 5, the Indian vessel was warmly welcomed by senior Kuwaiti naval officers, border guard and Indian embassy officials, as well as school children. The three-day port call includes professional events, cross-ship visits, community outreach and social interaction.

After completing his training from scratch at the Indian Naval Academy, Indian Navy Assigned to 1st Training Squadron (1TS) in Kochi.

The squadron consists of seven indigenously built ships, namely Indian Navy ships Tir, Sujata, Magar, Shardul, Coast Guard ship Vikram and two sail training ships INS Sudarshini and INS Tarangini. The squadron is currently led by Captain Aftab Ahmed Khan, a senior officer of the 1st Training Squadron, who also wears the double hat of the INS Tir commander.
