Abu Dhabi: A 34-year-old Indian woman who left Dubai after battling the cost of living has won the grand prize of AED1 million (Rs 2,2238,362) in Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket weekly draw.
Winner Varsha Gunda won the prize after matching five of the six winning numbers.
After hearing about Big Ticket through social media, Varsha decided to start buying tickets and has been doing so with her husband for over three years.
While her husband currently lives and works in the UAE, Varsha moved back to India from the UAE a few years ago.
When a Big Ticket representative first contacted her, she was visiting the UAE and suddenly missed the call. Two days later, her husband emailed the Big Ticket team after learning about his wife’s win through social media.
Varsha has yet to decide what to do with her winnings.
She still has a chance to take home the Dh30 million prize on December 3.
Big Ticket customers who purchase lottery tickets in November will automatically be entered into a weekly e-draw, where one winner will receive a weekly cash prize of AED 1 million.
Anyone who buys tickets during the promotion will also stand a chance to win a grand prize of AED 30 million on 3 December.
Fans of big tickets must purchase online or at the counters of shops at Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Ain International Airport before November 30.
