Indonesian Consul General K. Candra Negara told Gulf News: “All Indonesians around the world will celebrate Independence Day with joy as we always maintain a high spirit of unity,” adding: “As part of our celebrations, we will shed blood A donation drive will be held at the consulate premises on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm, in partnership with the Dubai Health Authority.”
“I am delighted to invite my fellow Indonesians and Dubainese to join us and be part of this initiative called ‘Every Drop of Water Saves a Life’,” Negara continued.
In Abu Dhabi, an official from the Indonesian embassy said a food festival called “Indonesia Spice Up the World” will be held in Lulu Mushrif, with free screenings of classic and award-winning Indonesian films in Manarat Al Saadiyat. There will also be sports murals to celebrate the National Day.
The Indonesian embassy in the UAE will be decorated in national colours of red and white, and attendees will be dressed in national attire. Indonesian ambassadors to the UAE, Husin Bagis and Negara, will deliver speeches and patriotic messages honoring the sacrifices of their ancestors, culminating in the declaration of Indonesia’s independence from Dutch colonial rule on August 17, 1945.
