The body of a woman reported missing by her husband has been found inside a snake.
The 54-year-old woman, Jahrah, went missing on Sunday while she was on her way to work at a rubber plantation, Indonesian news site Detik reported.
Jahrah’s husband found sandals, a knife and a headscarf belonging to his wife and when she failed to return home, he reported her missing to police, Detik reports Jambi police chief AKP S Harefa said.
The police chief added that after a search by locals, Jahra’s body was found in the stomach of a python.
“During the search, the team found a 7m-long python that was suspected of preying on the victim. The team immediately caught the snake to ensure the missing victim was in the snake’s belly.
“The victim was finally found in the belly of the snake when the residents searched,” the police said. “The victim’s body was also found in the snake’s body without damage because it was suspected that it had just been hunted.”
The boa constrictor suffocates its prey by wrapping itself around the victim’s body.
