Heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed at the mortuary at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Friday as relatives mourned the deaths of those killed in the SITE factory stampede as their bodies lay on stretchers.

In the morgue, a disgusting smell of death came to the face. The bodies of their loved ones were placed in ambulances and taken home for funerals, Dawn reported.

After the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Friday night that Rs 500,000 would be paid to the legal heirs of each deceased in the SITE stampede, Dawn reported.

The Prime Minister directed the Chief Secretary to immediately know the details of the dead and injured so that compensation can be distributed among them.

Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the factory management had not informed the police or the district administration of the charity allocation, Dawn reported.
