INPEX agrees on joint study to verify greenhouse gas emissions
ADNOC-led clean ammonia production project in Abu Dhabi
Tokyo, Japan – INPEX company(INPEX) announces that it has partnered with ADNOC, a reliable and responsible supplier of low-carbon-intensity energy, the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) and Mitsui to validate the implementation of ADNOC in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). A joint study of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from clean ammonia production projects.
The SCA was signed on April 16, 2023 in the presence of Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE and Managing Director of ADNOC. Material produced by ADNOC’s industrial parks in the UAE. The joint study will also verify CO2 reduction measures and CO2 reductions to determine the effect of applying captured CO2 to CO2EOR2 for underground storage.
CO2 emissions per unit energy volume.
A form of enhanced oil recovery (EOR). A technology that injects CO2 into the ground to achieve the dual benefits of underground CO2 storage and the economic advantages of enhanced oil recovery.
Through joint research, INPEX will conduct safe and long-term storage of CO2 in the form of CO2EOR in the Abu Dhabi onshore oil field where INPEX is located, by verifying the requirements and storage capacity, aiming to contribute to making the clean ammonia production project operated by ADNOC cleaner Contributions have participation rights.
Ammonia is advantageous as a means of storing and transporting hydrogen and does not emit carbon dioxide when burned. As such, it is expected to be used as a fuel for power generation and transportation as the world transitions to a carbon-neutral society.
As stated in its “INPEX Vision@2022” announced on February 9, 2022, INPEX positions the development of its hydrogen and ammonia business as one of the company’s five net-zero At the same time, it aims to produce more than 100,000 tons of hydrogen/ammonia per year.
The company will continue to work on building a hydrogen and ammonia supply chain linking Japan and Abu Dhabi, one of INPEX’s core business areas, in collaboration with the Japanese government and customers, as well as ADNOC, which has worked closely with it for 50 years. INPEX will also actively promote energy structure reform to contribute to the realization of a net-zero carbon society by 2050, while continuing to fulfill its responsibility to develop and provide stable and efficient energy supply to customers.
