Instagram, Twitter restrict anti-Semitic posts on Kanye West account | World News

[ad_1]

Instagram and Twitter said they had restricted the account of American rapper Kanye West after the posts were slammed as anti-Semitic.

A Twitter spokeswoman told AFP on Sunday that West’s account was locked for violating the social media platform’s policies.

A spokesman for Instagram’s parent company Meta told AFP that the group had removed content that violated its rules from West’s account, without specifying which posts.

Instagram also restricted his account, which could involve blocking him from posting, commenting or sending private messages, according to the same source.

In a tweet that was no longer visible on West’s account, the rapper said: “I’m a little sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going to die Liar 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE”, apparently referring to the American The military readiness code is called DEFCON.

Black artist West sparked controversy for appropriating the slogan “Black Lives Matter” during the recent Paris Fashion Week, where he wore a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt, sparked controversy.

The phrase “Black Lives Matter” became a protest slogan against the racism and police brutality sparked by the 2020 murder of George Floyd.

On Friday, West, 45, posted a screenshot on Instagram of a conversation with rapper Dee Dee, who called out West on the T-shirt and its message.

“I used you as an example to show the Jews who told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me. I told you it was war. Now go do some business with you,” he wrote. The posts have been removed from the platform, but images can still be found online.

He then tweeted that he would target Jews in a post that was blocked by the platform for violating its rules.

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) slammed West for “inciting hatred against Jews.”

“Kanye West should figure out how to make a point without using anti-Semitism,” the group said.

No stranger to controversy, West has been open about his struggles with bipolar disorder after being banned from Instagram following his abrupt divorce from reality star Kim Kardashian in March Post on 24 hours.

Earlier this week, German sportswear giant Adidas said it was reconsidering its partnership with West after he was reportedly unhappy with how the brand marketed his products.

Last month, West and retail brand Gap also announced the termination of their partnership.
