[ad_1]

Beijing, August 26, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — iQIYI, an innovative, market-leading online entertainment service Chinawhich recently announced parts of its series Fox Spirit Matchmaker (Moon Red) will involve an extended reality (XR) virtual production, producing the show China’s The first TV series to use this technique in production. The move marks a further step in iQIYI’s strategic vision of leveraging virtual production to improve content quality, increase efficiency and create an immersive viewing experience.

Fox fairy little matchmaker is a TV series adaptation of the Chinese animation of the same name, and its XR virtual production involves the installation of multiple LED panels at the Hengdian filming location, Zhejiang iQIYI has built a 2,400-square-meter virtual production studio in the province. Although shot virtually, the final output conveys a high level of realism that is almost indistinguishable from shooting in a physical scene. The setup also enables production teams to move seamlessly and effectively reuse and adapt to various virtual scenes.

The filming process of the show is a powerful example of how virtual production can bring change and new development space to the film and television industry, while stimulating the imagination of audiences.

“iQIYI has been building a digital asset library and exploring the integration of film and television production and advanced technology. XR virtual production is a key measure to further promote China’s film and television industrialization into a new stage.” said Zhu Liang, deputy director. President of iQIYI and head of intelligent production.

iQIYI has long been leveraging technologies such as virtual production to provide better entertainment experiences. In January, the company completed the production of two sets 4K Test movies in their own virtual production studio.Movie scenes are based on iQIYI hit TV series Luoyang, to do this, the company carried out high-precision 3D scans of the physical scenes in the play. These scans are then turned into “digital twins” of 3D assets and reused to create 4K test piece.

“Because virtual scenes can be reused for various productions—such as animation, games, VR, commercial licensing, etc.—it greatly reduces the costs associated with building physical scenes and allows for limitless possibilities,” Zhu added.
