The Israeli army killed a Palestinian man in the village of Burqin in the occupied West Bank and a woman in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Ramallah, the occupied West Bank– Israeli occupying forces shot and killed two Palestinians in different incidents in the occupied West Bank village of Burqin and the Old City of Jerusalem.

The first among the victims earlier Thursday was identified as 22-year-old Alaa Nasser Mohammed Zayyoud from the village of al-Silah al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

According to local media reports, Zaiyud used dozens of military jeeps and special forces to raid the town at dawn for arrest. During an armed confrontation with the Israeli army, he was shot and killed overnight in the nearby village of Burqin.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Zayyud was hit by four bullets; two on his chest, one on his neck, and one on his right thigh.

Witnesses told local media that an Israeli sniper fired at him at close range, and then “they ran towards him and continued to destroy him at close range”.

“Then the jeep and the army surrounded him. They prevented the ambulance from reaching him […] They allowed the ambulance to come after they were sure he was dead,” the witness said.

According to local media reports, two Palestinian men were reportedly injured in Burqin and taken to hospital for treatment, while two others were arrested.

The second Palestinian killed by the Israeli army on Thursday was identified as 30-year-old Israa Khuzaima, the mother of three children from the village of Qabatiya, south of Jenin.

The Israeli army announced that they had shot Israa Khuzaima in Bab al-Silsila (also known as the chain gate of the Old City of Jerusalem), claiming that she had tried to stab an officer.

After the incident, the Israeli army blocked the entrances of Damascus Gate, Al-Aqsa Mosque and Lion Gate, and then reopened them.
